Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley is going to visit San Antonio, Texas. It is hot there. Today it is 72 degrees, by the end of the week it will be in the 80’s.

Flat Stanley might visit the Alamo. The Alamo is the most famous spot where there was a battle. Flat Stanley might also visit Mission San Jose’. Hopefully, Flat Stanley will visit the San Antonio Zoo.

Stanley gets a job!

Flat Stanley came home from Floodwood, Minnesota with a great story to tell. He got a job!! Flat Stanley got a job at a Mat, Incorporated manufacturing facility. This company makes mulches from many recycled materials.

He learned a lot about a company that uses recycled materials to create new products that can be used again in different ways. When he interviewed for the job he met with the big boss, Mr. Karpik. During the interview Flat Stanley told the boss that since Mat, Inc. used paper in some of their mulches he would be a good fit for the company (seeing he is all paper).

On the job Flat Stanley learned a lot! He learned how wood chips are made into new products which help protect the environment. He also learned how to help a truck driver strap down and tarp a load for delivery, how to run all the huge machinery and how to make blankets that have seeds in them for planting.

Flat Stanley learned a lot at his new job. He decided that working is fun, but hard work. He realized he couldn’t work because he is too young. He decided to come back home until he is 16 and could apply for a worker’s permit. Before he left Mat, Inc. he heard they were looking for a truck driver because they had a load of Soil Guard that needed to get to a coast. Maybe by the time he is old enough they will still need a truck driver!
